چکیده

We present results of simulations performed as part of the development of a gamma-ray detector module comprising a nonpixellated scintillator and pixellated photodiode detector. The simulations have been carried out to determine the effect of surface treatment and dimensions of the scintillator on the ability to determine the two-dimensional position of interaction. A set of 32 different combinations of surface treatments have been considered for each crystal size. Scintillator dimensions considered have been 25 25 ( 3–6 mm). For scintillator thicknesses at the low end of this range, an average accuracy of 0.5–0.6 mm is achievable for many different surface treatments. At the higher end of the thickness range, 6 mm, the average accuracy reduces to around 0.7 mm and is more dependent on the surface treatment.

Evaluation of a SiPM array detector coupled to a LFS-3 pixellated scintillator for PET/MR applications.

Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece SiPM arrays are insensitive to magnetic fields and thus good candidates for hybrid PET/MR imaging systems. Moreover, due to their small size and flexibility can be used in dedicated small field of view small animal imaging detectors and especially in head PET/MR studies in mice. Co-doped LFS-3 scintillator crystals have higher light yield an...

Discrete Scintillator Coupled Mercuric Iodide Photodetector Arrays for Breast Imaging

Multi-element (4x4) imaging arrays with high resolution collimators, size matched to discrete CsI(T1) scintillator arrays and mercuric iodide photodetector arrays (HgI, PDA) are under development as prototypes for larger 16x16 element arrays. The compact nature of the arrays allows detector positioning in proximity to the breast to eliminate activity not in the lineof-sight 0; the collimator, t...

Impressive Reduction of Dark Current in InSb Infrared Photodetector to achieve High Temperature Performance

Infrared photo detectors have vast and promising applications in military, industrial and other fields. In this paper, we present a method for improving theperformance of an infrared photodetector based on an InSb substance. To achieve goodperformance at high temperatures, thermal noise and intrusive currents should bereduced. For this purpose, a five-layer hetero structu...

Optical simulation and experimental measurement of gamma ray energy spectrum of plastic scintillators with different sizes

The application of large plastic scintillators is widely increasing in the different areas of industry, medicine and security due to technical and economic advantages. One of the main disadvantages of these detectors is the unknown position of Compton edge at gamma ray spectrum. In this research, GEANT4/GATE code has been used to simulate the gamma ray spectrum for different volumes of large pl...

Scintillation induced response in passively-quenched Si-based single photon counting avalanche diode arrays.

An optical electrical model which studies the response of Si-based single photon counting arrays, specifically silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), to scintillation light has been developed and validated with analytically derived and experimental data. The scintillator-photodetector response in terms of relative pulse height, 10%-90% rise/decay times to light stimuli of different rise times (rangi...
